This long eared critter was mentioned by Mark Twain in his western “ Roughing It” but referred to it in a not so polite term which was later shortened to jackrabbit.  Painted in the popular Vibrant Mosaic style, no need for a frame. Oil on deep Gallery wrap canvas.

" What is it ? !  "  Mark Twain explained the first time he traveled West from his home in Missouri and saw a desert Jack Rabbit leaping thru the sands!  The ears were so long, he first dubbed the creature a  " JackAss Rabbit " because of the long donkey or mule like ears. Polite society at the time edited Twains name to Jack Rabbit.  Done in my colorful vibrant mosaic palette to create character in this lively creature.
